Hmmm... the idea of the registry was a centralized configuration database.
That I think is a major part of the problem.
But yeah, the implementation is horrible.
It's also heavily abused by companies on top of the problems.
For example, the companies that hide information in it so you cannot
easily remove it. It's *my* computer, not theirs.
I like some things to be global, but most things I rather were seperated.
It's not a simple call though.
I actually like the way UNIX is going lately, with nice configuration
files being seperated in /etc, instead of the old mess of them being
scattered all over the place.
Obviously they and the software are not all there yet.
