No, and I can't imagine where you got that from.
I didn't say I agreed with them, I'm just repeating their argument for
the sake of discussion.

Oh, they do. I've had to call once and it stopped.

The problem is the pushed into a corner where they'd be banned from all
phone calls (if all become cell phone numbers), they'll try to make it
legal to solicit anywhere.
The government has not convinced me it feels strongly enough that this
should be stopped.

I don't think their right to market should be based only on wether or
not I paid for something, or invading my personal space.
How do you define these things?
I incur expense every time I have to sort the junk from my real mail,
and my mailbox and home are my personal space.
My television is in my home, and some ads are not only invading this
very personal space, some of them are getting really disgusting.

It's not just about $ expense. Even if they PAID me to use my cell phone,
I should not be solicited.
I understand how ads are used for a passive broadcast medium like
television and other similar media, but active media requires too much
of my personal time and expense to have ads invade there.
