Oh, they save money all right. The providers contract to accept
"allowable" fees which are a fraction of their "normal" charges. What
happens is you pay a fortune for any services not covered and those
without insurance really get it in the throat. In addition, the premiums
for better plans has gone through the roof, making it impossible for most
people to get good care.
