From TWUUG

  • Frank Bell gave a presentation on Salix, A Linux distribution based on Slackware. His install used Fluxbox and he reports that compared to Slackware, it is easier to install, uses cfdisk, has automatic creation of a new user, and uses a graphical package manager called "Slapt".
  • Matthew Fillpot gave presentations on:
    • Razor-Qt, a lightweight desktop environment built on QT. It currently does not include a window manager, so you can choose to use kwin (from KDE ) or openbox.
    • Desura, a games distribution client for Linux that makes it easier to install both FOSS and commercial games.
    • Quick demos of several games, including Xonotix (3D FPS), and Powder Toy (a physics simulation)
  • Mike Logan donated an older legacy-free computer for the door prize.
