From TWUUG

At this meeting:

  • Mark Davis presented on barcoding under Linux. Started with examples of three readers, a corded and two wireless and how most are USB/HID and work perfectly with any Linux machine. Discussed types of readers (1D and 2D), symbologies, uses (and misuses). Then showed how to easily produce barcodes in Linux using fonts and also the Zint open-source program which has both command-line and graphical interfaces. (And then experimented with the effectiveness of 2D barcode error-correction... it is very effective).
